Take what you need for free
Early in the morning, hundreds of Trade Union staff and employees in need in Khanh Hoa Province gathered at the Center of Culture & Sports, Suoi Dau Industrial Zone, Cam Lam District to take part in a charity fair. Hong Hoa, a worker at French Female Apparel Development Company Ltd., said , “At the New Year fair, we can get pomelos, eggs, onions and seasonings free of charge. We are so grateful for the charity fair that brings warmth and festive atmosphere to Trade Union members and workers in need."
At the charity fair, more than 800 gifts totaling more than VND175 million were given. In addition, Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Confederation offered 200 gifts worth VND800,000 each to those in need, having occupational diseases or accidents.
Nguyen Tan Tuan highly appreciated the assistance of the Trade Union, especially on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. In the coming time, local agencies and localities need to continue organizing many activities to improve the employment conditions and care for the material and mental life of workers.
Contests on Tet cake wrapping, flower arrangement and gift packaging brought hilarious atmosphere and festive spring season to Trade Union members and employees in distress. With a New Year gift in hand, Duong Ngoc Vinh, a worker of Rapexco Dai Nam Company, Ltd said, “I have never attended such a cozy New Year’s event. I have also received a meaningful gift.”
Cozy get-together
More than 250 disadvantaged workers spending Tet far from home enjoyed themselves at a year-end party with a musical show praising the Communist Party, Uncle Ho, the spring season and homeland.
On behalf of provincial leaders, Nguyen Khac Toan conveyed the best wishes and gave lucky money to all Trade Union members and workers. The Provincial Labor Confederation also offered 250 New Year gifts worth VND800,000 each to members and workers. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, a worker at Sodex Sport Company, Ltd said, “In early 2022, I stopped work to get treatment for tuberculosis. Recovering from the disease, got back to work in December 2022. I am so happy to receive the gift from the Trade Union as it helps me ease the financial burden for the coming New Year celebration."
New Year holiday is a great opportunity for family reunion. However, some workers are unable to travel home to spend time with their families due to financial difficulties. The Lunar New Year get-together program is to bring festive atmosphere to Trade Union members and workers in need.
Huynh Thi Lien, a worker of Tam Nhu Company, Ltd said, “We are from Quang Ngai Province. It has been 3 years since we left home to work in Khanh Hoa. Although being homesick, we decided to spend Tet here because of financial burden. We are so happy to join such a joyful and meaningful program.”
According to Bui Hoai Nam, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Confederation, inspite of much improvement in employees’ income in 2022, many are still facing financial problems. Therefore, this year, the Provincial Trade Union at all levels has spent nearly VND35 billion on gifts for its members and workers in need, having occupational diseases or accidents, out of work or suffering from natural disasters; and mobilized donations totaling more than VND300 million to support Trade Union members and workers. The Trade Union at grassroots levels has also cooperated with agencies and businesses to organize activities to promote wellbeing of employees by offering New Year gifts and lucky money to ensure a happy and fulfilled New Year holiday.
Nguyen Khac Toan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People’s Council: With work and life challenges predicted in 2023, the Trade Union at all levels is required to enhance responsibilities and contribution via meaningful activities to ensure members and employees’ rights for a happy New Year.
