An individual of Chelonia mydas was released into the wild of the protected sea waters of Hon Mun, Nha Trang City on February 21 by Khanh Hoa Department of Fisheries in cooperation with Hon Ro Border Station (Nha Trang Port Border Station) and Nha Trang Bay Management Board.


Earlier, at 5a.m on the same day, an individual of Chelonia mydas, weighing 190-100kg, 1.4m long, 0.75m wide stuck in a fishing net had been given to the authorities for the release back into the wild.

Chelonia mydas is named as an critically endangered species in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List and Vietnam Red Book.
