On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, supermarkets, souvenir and jewelry shops in Nha Trang City are running numerous promotional programs for beauty products as gifts for women. Meanwhile, the price of fresh flowers has risen up sharply. Especially, the cost of roses has jumped by 3-4 times compared to that on normal days.
Supermarkets ramp up promotion
To meet the demand, since early March, trade centers, supermarkets and shops have prepared a lot of gift items for the International Women's Day. On this occasion, numerous promotions are running to attract shoppers.
During the Month for Women, Co.opmart Nha Trang is offering 1,000 beauty products with 50% off. This Women’s Day, cosmetics and gifts are designed in cute boxes ranging between VND70,000 and 400,000, according to Vo Dinh Dung, Director of Co.opmart Nha Trang.

Similarly, WinMart has also launched a discount program for shoppers of personal care and beauty products. Go! Nha Trang offers discount up to 49% on hundreds of beauty products and “buy 1 and get 1 free”. From February 24 to March 9, PNJ offers discount up to 40% on jewelry, including silver jewelry reduced by 40% and gold jewelry by 30%. Especially, the company also gives 8,300 jewelry gifts to customers with an invoice of VND5 million or more.
Fresh flower prices on the rise
The custom of giving women flowers has still prevailed with a large number of fresh flowers available at Xom Moi Market, Dam Market. The price of fresh flowers has risen by 10-30% compared with normal days. especially rises cost 3-4 times higher than usual. Specifically, Da Lat red rose is priced at VND15,000 – 20,000 (up by VND10,000 – 15,000/stem), imported Da Lat red roses VND30,000 – 50,000(up by VND20,000 – 30,000), Gerbera VND50,000/ bouquet of 20 flowers, up by VND100,000/ bouquet.
Apart from local flowers, there are some imported ones, namely Ecuadorian roses, Chamelaucium Uncinatum, Roselily, Cymbidium hybrid, Peony Chrysanthemum and Ranunculus sceleratus to serve customers’ needs. The prices of the flowers increase slightly by 5-10% while roses cost VND100,000-120,000/stem.
Florist Tuong Vy, Nguyen Trai Street, Nha Trang City started to have flower orders for for gifting on the International Women’s Day 5 days ago. Customers are mostly businesses, agencies and schools. To meet the increased demand, the shop had placed orders with flowers growers in Da Lat City for nearly half a month and hired more people for packaging and delivery. The increase in the flower prices is due to the high demand.
Besides fresh cut flowers, colorful wax roses are also popular as they can last for a long time. Compared with last year, the cost of wax roses has increased by 5-7% due to the soar in materials.
