In a small room like a flower and souvenir shop on Lam Son Street, Nha Trang City, Phuoc Hoa Ward Youth Union gathered its members and young people to make and introduce hand knitted items. Dedicated to help kids in remote areas, the project has received support and favorable conditions by the ward People’s Committee Party.
According to Nguyen Thuy Duong, Secretary of Phuoc Hoa Ward Youth Union, many of volunteers here are graduates from pedagogy schools and have love for kids. They would like to make items for kids, especially those in mountainous areas, to keep them warm in winter. Therefore, the ward Youth Union has registered for the project on 100 knitted scarves for kids.
Launched in March 10, the model has received the participation of dozens of members who are interested in knitting. The model has a target of 100 scarves offered to kids at Son Hiep Primary School, Khanh Son District. However, as many as 181 kids are reported to need the scarves, so the model has continued with knitting and receiving wool materials from organizations and individuals such as Happy Wool, Ward Women’s Association, Youth Union branches and teachers from some local schools.
This model is meaningful for the sake of children in remote disadvantaged areas. Therefore, the Ward Party Committee has provided favorable conditions for the Youth Union to fulfill their tasks, contributing to social work, promoting activities of local Youth Union activities and bringing effectiveness to the community, according to Tran Van Ngoc, Secretary of Phuoc Hoa Ward Party Committee.
