Nha Trang City 2011 summer cross-country race “Running with Sacombank for the community’s health" has just been held by Sacombank in cooperation with Nha Trang Culture & Sport Center in an effort to provide a helpful playground for children in summer.

More than 600 runners from high schools in Khanh Hoa Province set off at 2-4 Square, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa on June 19 to take part in the cross-country race over the 3 distances, 1km, 2km and 4km. Many participants were from SOS Children’s Village.

Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Director of Nha Trang City Culture & Sport Center said, “The event helps to promote physical exercises as well as provide fun activities for children to join in summer.” Reportedly, this is the 10th time Nha Trang City Culture & Sport Center has held a summer cross-country race for children and teenagers and the 5th successive time Sacombank Nha Trang Branch has sponsored the event.

The event was held on Tran Phu Street, Le Thanh Ton Street, Hung Vuong Street and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street. Nha Trang City security force, Sacombank staff and physicians from Khanh Hoa General Hospital were present at the spots early in the morning to assure that the event ran smoothly.

Hundreds of children and teenagers ran carrying slogans saying “running for the community’s health” The first team prize for children went to runners from SOS Children’s Village, second prize to Phuoc Thinh High School and the third prize to Phuoc Dong Commune. The first team prize for teenagers was awarded to Van Thanh Ward, second prize to Vo Thi Sau School and third prize to SOS Children’s Village.

Kids need to stay active and summer is the best time to enjoy sport outdoors. Through involvement in the race, children and teenagers not only built the coordination, strength and confidence they need to set the framework for an ongoing healthy lifestyle but also helped to raise public awareness of health benefits and regular physical exercises
