As a part of a series of events in the Culture and Development Week first held in Vietnam by the Office of UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, a workshop titled "Cultural Heritage Preservation & Promotion during modernization process" has just been held in Hanoi featuring many cultural heritages, including Ponagar Temples (Khanh Hoa), Giong Festival, Hung Kings worship rituals and Gong culture of Lach people (Lam Dong).
The event aimed to promote the role of culture and affirm its contribution to Vietnamese rich heritages. The workshop attracted a large attendance of scientists from the Office of UNESCO in Hanoi, Vietnam Cultural & Art Institute, Culture Research Institute, Heritage Preservation Institute together with many heritage management officials.
The Khanh Hoa Vestige & Beauty Spot Management Center had a report on measures to promote the management of the Ponagar Temples, including the management task of celebrating Ponagar festivals as well as other related tourism, culture and art activities and services.
Suggestions by the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism were also addressed to Khanh Hoa provincial leaders.
Particularly, scientists at the workshop recognized Cham people's contribution to the local tourism industry through music and art performance as well as their handicraft.
Ngo My Chau, Director of the Khanh Hoa Vestige & Beauty Spot Management Center says representatives at the workshop appreciated the fact that more and more Cham people flock to Ponagar Temples on holidays, festivals and also on normal days.
Moreover, the establishment of Ponagar Temples Sponsor Association has proved very effective. The success of Ponagar Festival held annually has contributed significantly to the preservation and promotion of local heritages.
