Dancing is becoming a popular art to Nha Trang people. Dancing is seen on stages, parties, schools or even parks. Accordingly, dance sport has developed strongly recently.
Most people who learn dance sport have known social or exhibition dancing. However, dancesport is for communication, entertainment and especially for competition. Dancesport denotes competitive ballroom dancing. This genre requires high technology of dancers. Today, it includes ten dances, categorized in two styles, namely Standard and Latin. Standard has Tango, Quickstep, Slow Waltz, Vienna Waltz and Slow Fox Trot while Latin features Rumba, Cha-cha-cha, Samba, Jive and Pasodoble.
In recent years, many young people in Nha Trang have got acquainted with dancesport. Contests such as the National Dancesport Championship, Khanh Hoa Open 2009, Dancesport Festival 2011 have encouraged the youth practice and join competitions more.

Phan Thanh Chuong, who has practiced dancesport for 5 years and won the first prize for amateurs at Dancesport Festival 2011 in Khanh Hoa, said, “Dancesport needs keenness and efforts. It brings me excitement and beauty of body. I not only practice dancesport regularly but teach it to many other young people in the city.”
“In the first days of practice, I feel pains in many calves but knees, but now, it makes me healthy and excited. Every time when hearing music, I want to dance”, Ha Van Linh, a third-year student of Naval Institute confided.
At present, Nha Trang Youth Center on Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Nha Trang and some dancing clubs always draw a lot of young people. Dancesport is really a healthy and useful cultural playground for the youth.
