 In 2012, Khanh Hoa Province ’ s sport has seen a strong development of movement sport but only a moderation in professional one.

Movement sport: growth in both quantity and quality

Movement sport of Khanh Hoa Province has grown in both quantity and quality. Only in early December, 8 cities, towns and districts in the province has fulfilled their targets. Particularly, the numbers of permanent sports practicers and sports families have over-fulfilled  targets. The number of permanent sports practicers makes up 32% of the population, exceeding its target by 7%. The number of sports families occupies 33% of the total number of households, exceeding by 6%.

During the year, the province has organized more than 750 sports tournaments, including 20 at provincial level, 150 at district, town and city level and over 600 at ward and commune level. The competitions have created useful and attractive playgrounds for the local people.

The province’s movement sport has developed not only in quantity but in quality as well. Along with more investment in materials as public sports tools, the province has more private sports grounds such as tennis clubs, badminton clubs, artificial grass football grounds and aerobic which have attracted a lot of practicers. Additionally, under socialization, movement competitions in organizations and businesses have become more professional.

Only in a year, businesses have sponsored more than VND1 billion for movement sports events. Some remarkable events are Khanh Hoa Province Futsal Championship in March (invested over VND150 million), Football Tournament – Larue Cup in June (invested VND500 million), Cycling Tournament Khanh Hoa Open in August, Badminton Tournament Khanh Hoa Open – Me Trang Cup in August (invested over VND200 million).

Professional sport: moderate level

 

After competing the national football championship V-League for 8 years, Khatoco Football Club of Khanh Hoa Province were broke up in December, causing regret to fans.

Other professional sports of the province also haven’t attained high achievement. Till year-end time, the province has won only 288 medals, including 68 golds, 87 silvers and 133 bronzes. 33 athletes have reached veteran level and 32 have got level 1.

Sports such as athletics, table-tennis, tennis, body fitness and U11 – U15 football keep at a moderate level in 2012.

In particular, traditional martial arts and beach volleyball have achieved good results. 17 medal have been won in traditional martial arts while beach volleyball of the province have won the championship for the men’s events and the second ranking for the women’s events.
