Chosen as the hosting city of 2016 Asian Beach Games, Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa is heading to this big sports event.
According to Decision on organization for the fifth Asian Beach Games in 2016 by the Prime Minister, the event will take place in 10 days in June, 2016 in three cities, including Nha Trang (the host), Da Nang and Binh Thuan.
The Asian Beach Games (ABG) is a multi-sport event to be held every two years among athletes representing countries from Asia. The games are regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia. The fifth ABG with 17 official sports will be participated by 45 countries and territories in Asia with more than 3,500 athletes, coaches and guests.
The Prime Minister has commanded ministries, departments and localities to do good preparations for this event of international stature. Being the hosting city, Nha Trang will receive a large number of arrivals during the event. As planned, 10 sports, including kabaddi, wrestling, volleyball, woodball, sepak takraw, pencak silat, jet ski, handball, water polo and 3-on-3 basketball will take place in Nha Trang. Accordingly, facilities and technologies for these sports are required. Additionally, accommodations, vehicles and playgrounds for all teams are things Nha Trang will attach importance. This will be a good opportunity for the coastal city to introduce the beautiful images of land and people to foreign guests.

Nguyen Van Hoa, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism revealed, “Khanh Hoa Province cares this event very much. The provincial authority has asked the sports department to make best preparations for it. However, we are waiting for detail directions from the Central.”
According to surveys, facilities of Nha Trang can basically satisfy requirements of sports in ABG 5. For example, to sports on sand such as wrestling, kabaddi, woodball and 3-on-3 basketball, the city will take the advantage of its beach and seaside parks. Other sports such as volleyball, sepak takraw and jet ski also are not difficult to the city which has much experience in hosting many big sports event.
