
Khanh Hoa traditional martial arts in particular and Vietnamese traditional martial arts in general used to go through difficult periods with the underdevelopment or even close of many traditional martial arts clubs. Bich Quang traditional martial arts club – Khanh Hoa Children’s House timely grasped the policy of sports socialization, making appropriate steps and contributions to the provincial sports activities.

Bich Quang traditional martial arts club of Khanh Hoa Children’s House timely grasped the policy of sports socialization, making appropriate steps and contributions to the provincial sports activities.
In the start-up phase (1977), Bich Quang traditional martial arts club had only 30 followers and 1 practising place, Khanh Hoa Children’s House. Now, the club has over 1,000 novices of all courses and 3 practising places which are located in Khanh Hoa Children’s House, Vinh Nguyen Secondary School and Huong Sen Nursery School. The number of martial arts master and coaches also increased from 1 coach in the beginning to 5 masters, 3 coaches of level 17 and 40 coaches of other levels.

Doan Duc Phuoc, head coach of Bich Quang traditional martial arts club said “Beside development in width, our club has focused on development in depth, shown through good achievements of learners in both domestic and international competitions. Bich Quang club joined all belt promotion tests with a successful rate of 100% at the provincial level and national level. The club has achieved more than 100 medals of all kinds and gained 1st and 2nd prizes for whole team in Nha Trang tournaments as well as Khanh Hoa tournaments for many years.”
Bich Quang traditional martial arts club contributed “Kim nguu quyen” to Vietnam’s traditional martial arts system. Master Doan Duc Phuoc has been appointed as the national referee and head coach of Khanh Hoa traditional martial arts squad for years.
In addition, Bich Quang club well organized international martial arts exchange. The club receives the visits of international martial arts groups every year. The club’s members were regularly sent to France for traditional martial arts performing and teaching.
Along with developing the traditional martial arts movement in Khanh Hoa Province, Bich Quang club also took part in many social activities. In 2000, Bich Quang club formed the first unicorn – lion – dragon dance club in Khanh Hoa, regularly assigned to perform in provincial main events. In 2006, Bich Quang club associated with the provincial center of culture established human chess club.
With contributions to Khanh Hoa traditional martial arts movement, Bich Quang traditional martial arts club – Khanh Hoa Children’s House was given many noble rewards like certificates of merit from the Central Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Martial Arts Federation, Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Provincial Communist Youth Union, and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Facing difficulties from the beginning, Bich Quang traditional martial arts club has had appropriate orientation and steps, which help to maintain traditional martial arts movement in Khanh Hoa Province. Besides, holding international martial arts exchange every year has also created good conditions for club to develop, be known and be joined by a lot of foreigners.
