With successive good achievements at the national championships, the traditional martial arts have been expected to be one of pinnacle sports which are likely to bring success to Khanh Hoa sports at the 7th National Sports Festival 2014.
In recent years, Khanh Hoa traditional martial arts have been considered one of sports having a stable development in both quantity and quality. In terms of movement, till now, the whole province has over 15 sects of traditional martial arts which are practiced in 41 places, clubs, and dojos, attracting more than 1,500 practitioners. Some prominent dojos and localities are Minh Long, Tay Son, Bich Quang, Tho Phuoc Duong (Nha Trang City), Ninh Hoa Town, and Dien Khanh District.

In terms of pinnacle sports, for about 3 years till now, Khanh Hoa has always gained good achievements in most of local and national traditional martial arts tournaments. For example, in 2011, Khanh Hoa team won 2 golden medals, 9 silver medals and 10 bronze medals in the National Youth Tournament of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts and the National Traditional Martial Arts Championships; in 2012, the team got 17 medals; in 2013, they achieved 13 medals.
“From 2012, the traditional martial arts have been considered one of key sports in Khanh Hoa after becoming a subject in the provincial Sports Technique Training Center. Beside being invested on the force and training equipment, the team has been also facilitated in the tournaments. This sport is the great hope of Khanh Hoa sports in the coming National Sports Festival,” said Mr. Tran Quang Thuong, Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Technique Training Center.
The provincial traditional martial arts team now has 20 members, practicing 2 events: demonstration and combat. Since being moved into the provincial Sports Technique Training Center, receiving good investment from Khanh Hoa Sports Department, the team has been ensured all kinds of necessary policies and offered favourable conditions for training, enhancing the athletes’ spirit of practice and competition.
