Cam Ranh City sports festival has just been successfully held. The festival created the monument to develop the sports movement at grass-roots level in the city.
In order to prepare for the sports festival at all levels and provincial level, from March to August, Cam Ranh City held tournaments for some sports like football, badminton, attracting 575 athletes with the expenditure of over VND52 million.
Reportedly, most of the organizations, units, communes and districts in Cam Ranh City implemented requirements in professional issues and time as well as filled and exceeded the norms. 15 out of 15 communes and districts in the city held the sports festival at their level with more than 4 thousand participants in the opening day.
Over 4,996 officers, coaches and athletes took part in 91 sports tournaments in which 13 sports tournaments were held for the ethnic minorities. Especially, some mountainous communes and localities which have the communities of ethnic minorities held many traditional sports such as crossbow shooting, rod pushing, tug of war, boat race and basket swinging, attracting a lot of participants.

According to Tran Anh Dung, Deputy Chairman of Cam Ranh City People’s Committee and head of the organization board of Cam Ranh City sports and physical training festival, the festival received interest and supports from the authorities and locals and created the monument to maintain and develop the sports movement in the localities. This festival also helped to mobilize the locals to do exercise; preserve and promote traditional sports; create an opportunity for the social-cultural officers, coaches, referees, etc., in the localities to have more experience and raise their ability in organizing and managing sports tournaments.
However, there are some existing problems which need to be resolved such as the lack of facilities, fund limitation for sports activities, and degradation of many facilities.
Reportedly, Cam Ranh City is checking the cultural and sports institutions to find a general solution for investment and innovation in order to to maintain and deeply develop sports movements in the local.
