Traditional martial arts in Khanh Hoa Province: Maintain sustainable development

With the sustainable development and positive contributions to the sports in Khanh Hoa Province, the traditional martial arts is expected to gain good achievements at the next National Sports Festival.

With the sustainable development and positive contributions to the sports in Khanh Hoa Province, the traditional martial arts is expected to gain good achievements at the next National Sports Festival.

Khanh Hoa Traditional Martial Arts Association now has 102 members from 6 units of the localities in Nha Trang City, such as Cam Ranh, Nha Trang, Dien Khanh, Ninh Hoa, Cam Lam and Van Ninh. Around 1,500 followers of over fifteen traditional martial arts sects in Khanh Hoa Province regularly practice at 41 places, clubs and martial arts schools, among them are some outstanding ones like Minh Long, Hac Long, Phi Long Chanh, Minh Hoang Cong an, etc.

In 2013, overcoming many difficulties about facilities, equipment and expenditure, Khanh Hoa traditional martial arts association has managed to develop sustainably and fulfill the assignments.

Specifically, Khanh Hoa Traditional Martial Arts Association held training classes for 53 coaches, referees at district and province level; associated with the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to successfully organize the traditional martial arts tournament.

In addition, Khanh Hoa Traditional Martial Arts Association also took part in many important cultural and sports activities in the province.

During the past three years, the traditional martial arts in Khanh Hoa Province has had a strong development. The provincial traditional martial arts team gained some good achievements in the two national martial arts tournaments with 41 medals (6 golden medals, 22 silver ones and 13 bronze ones). Especially, in 2013, Ly Hoang Tuan, Chairman of Khanh Hoa traditional martial arts association was selected as member of the executive board of the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation.

At the next seventh National Sports Festival held in Nam Dinh Province, Khanh Hoa traditional martial arts is expected to win at least one golden medal at demonstration event.

According to Tran Quang Thuong, director of the provincial Sports Technique Training Center, the traditional martial arts in Khanh Hoa Province is now not as strong as ones in other localities and units nationwide like Hanoi, Binh Dinh, Da Nang, etc. However, at some events, especially female’s demonstration, Khanh Hoa’s athletes are competitive with their peers from other traditional martial arts teams in the country.

Reportedly, in 2013, Khanh Hoa Traditional Martial Arts team joined four tournaments in the Central and country, achieving 53 medals of all kinds. Those achievements will be a driving force to help Khanh Hoa traditional martial arts to be in top 20 at the next National Sports Festival.
