The three-on-three basketball tournament, commonly named the street basketball tournament, first held at the Nha Trang Sports Training & Competing Center, attracted the attention of the basketball lovers in Nha Trang City.
Reportedly, in recent five years, the basketball movement in Nha Trang City in particular and Khanh Hoa Province in general has had a quite strong development. Everyyear, the Nha Trang City Cultural - Sports Center organizes basketball tournament, drawing the participation of over 300 players from the communes, wards and schools in the city as well as other localities in the province. Besides, Khanh Hoa Province also hosts many national basketball tournaments, aiming to partly promote the basketball movement in the province.
However, this was the first time Nha Trang City held the 3x3 basketball tournament. Each team competing at 3x3 volleyball tournaments has three players instead of five ones as in normal basketball tournaments.

The 3x3 basketball rules are basically not different from the ones in normal basketball. However, there are some departures from regular full-court basketball. For example, the 3x3 basketball court is only half as large as the normal court, with one basket; the game has three 5-minute sets with 1-minute rest period and no technical time–out. In addition, the players in three-on-three basketball games have more spaces to move thanks to the fewer players on the court and can move quickly from the defensive zone to the attack zone. Therefore, the rhythm of the match speeds up. All those things make this type of basketball become more attractive.
Joining this year’s tournament were 12 men’s teams and 3 women’s ones. Most of the teams were formed by the young people who had the same passion for basketball.
Finally, One Pro team won the championship at men’s event while Mang Cut team got the first place at women’s event.
“For many years, the young people in Nha Trang City who love basketball have wished such a playground to satisfy their passion for this sport. Therefore, we tried to arrange our busy schedules to take part in this tournament. I hope this tournament will be maintained in order to develop basketball in general and three-on-three basketball in particular,” Quach Tung Duong, player of One Pro shared after his team’s victory.
