Since 2014, boxing becomes a sport in the competitive system of Khanh Hoa Province. Besides, a boxing team was formed, aiming to join the national boxing tournaments.

After a long time of absence, Khanh Hoa boxing marked its return by the boxing club championship, held in July, 2013, with the participation 63 athletes from 11 clubs in the province.

Reportedly, five years ago, boxing seemed to disappear in Khanh Hoa Province after the inefficient activities of the club championships as well as the not good performances of the provincial boxing team at the national tournaments.

However, boxing has been still maintained spontaneously at some places and clubs across the province, such as Pham Minh Sang Club, Bich Quang Club (Khanh Hoa Children’s House), Kim Giap Club (Nha Trang City); Van Duc Toan Club, Duong Tan Van Club, Thieu Quang My (Ninh Hoa Town); Cam Phuoc Tay (Cam Lam District); Minh Phi Thanh (Cam Ranh City); Nguyen Minh Nhat (Dien Khanh District).

The successful organization of the boxing clubs championship 2013 showed the passion and efforts of the Provincial Boxing Association.

Boxing used to be a favorite antagonistic sport of many people in Khanh Hoa Province. The Khanh Hoa’s boxers were considered as competitive ones at the national boxing tournaments. In 2004, Khanh Hoa boxers gained three silver medals and two bronze ones at the national young boxing championship. That was the last achievement of Khanh Hoa boxing in domestic tournaments.

After putting this sport into the provincial competitive system, from this year, Khanh Hoa Province will hold a yearly boxing tournament in October. This is a good opportunity for the province to integrate into the country's boxing.

According to Pham Minh Sang, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Boxing Association, the provincial boxing team is preparing for the national tournament 2014 with a high determination. Expectedly, Khanh Hoa team will compete in 6 weight classes.

In the future, beside maintaining and organizing yearly boxing club championships, the Provincial Boxing Association will hold regular training classes for the referees and coaches in order to improve the tournaments' quality.

In addition, the association will also call for investment from the sponsors to maintain the boxing movement in the province.
