Nha Trang City has just held the 1st Nha Trang City badminton open tournament – Valentine Cup, bringing a new breath to the badminton movement in the beach city.
Although it was held for the first time, the open tournament attracted over 100 athletes from 13 units and clubs of the cities and provinces across the country, such as Phu Yen, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Long An, Binh Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City and the host Khanh Hoa. The athletes were divided into five age groups and competed in men’s and women’s doubles event.
Over the recent years, the badminton movement in Nha Trang City has had a sustainable maintenance showed through the highly-appreciated tournaments held regularly and the year-on-year increase number of participants. Besides, those tournaments saw a quite strong competition between the participating teams thanks to their good investment in force.

“The tournament aimed to create a useful playground for the badminton players in Nha Trang City so that they could exchange and gain experience from the players from other provinces. The large number of participants and the support of the sponsors showed the attraction of badminton in community. Through this open tournament, the badminton clubs in Nha Trang City will create a connection with the ones in the country,” said Tran Tung Han, Deputy Director of Nha Trang City Cultural - Sports Center.
Most of the athletes were from 40 to 70 years old, competing in just one event of men’s or women’s doubles; however, the competition atmosphere of the games was quite ebullient.
Finally, the organization board gave 5 sets of medals to the excellent couples. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City team won 3 gold medals; Binh Dinh team got 1 gold medal and 1 silver one while the host Nha Trang team achieved 1 gold, 3 silvers and 1 bronze.
With those results of the first organization, the Nha Trang City badminton open tournament seemed to connect the badminton lovers throughout the country.
