The Khanh Hoa Province beach football tournament 2014 aimed to promote the beach football movement in the province as well as prepare for the provincial team at the coming National Sports Festival which will be held in Nha Trang City in August. This tournament also showed a stable maintenance and development of the beach football movement in the localities and units in Khanh Hoa Province.

This tournament also showed a stable maintenance and development of the beach football movement in the localities and units in Khanh Hoa Province.
This year’s tournament took place from April 30 to May 3 at the beach area opposite to 62 Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang City and was joined by seven teams from six districts, towns, cities and businesses in the province, including Nha Trang, Cam Lam. Van Ninh, Khanh Vinh, Dien Khanh and Sanest Tourist. The teams were divided into two groups and competed in a round robin format. Finally, Sanest Tourist team defeated Nha Trang team 3-2 in a tense match to win the championship.
Reportedly, the 2014 tournament had less participants than the previous years (12 teams in 2012 and 8 teams in 2013) due to the lack of athlete force, grant, etc. of some localities and units such as Khanh Son, Ninh Hoa and the provincial police. However, the quality of this tournament was still quite good because this year’s participating teams were the strong ones which had high achievements at the previous tournaments. That helped to create a uniqueness and attraction to the fans and tourists as well as promote the development of this sport in Khanh Hoa Province.

According to Nguyen Van Hoa, deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the organization board gave a special focus on raising the professional quality of the this year’s participants, helping to prepare the athlete force for the 7th National Sports Festival.
Thanks to the quite good maintenance for the beach football movement, this sport has recently become one of the most important ones in Khanh Hoa Province with many encouraging achievements at the national tournaments. Specifically, Khanh Hoa’s beach football team won two championships in 2008 and 2012. Besides, many Khanh Hoa’s athletes joined the national beach football team as the main ones who competed at the Asian Beach Games in Indonesia, Oman and China. All those things are the driving force to keep maintaining and developing this sport in the province.
