Vietnam had a good start at the 41st World Chess Olympiad 2014 held in Tromso (Norway) with the victories of both men’s and women’s team.
The first matches of men’s event saw the absence of Vietnam’s leading chess player Le Quang Liem (Grandmaster, ELO 2710). Four players of Vietnam’s male team (average rating 2588) won over their rivals Namibia (average rating 2177) with the score of 4-0.

The female team also bagged a 3-1 victory over Uruguay, bringing a successful competition day to Vietnam’s team
Reportedly, the 41st World Chess Olympiad 2014 lasts from August 2 to 14 with 152 men’s teams and 136 women’s ones.
