Vietnamese player wins championship for Blitz Chess in Malaysia

International Master Nguyen Van Huy (Elo 2519) was the third seed at Malaysian Chess Festival Blitz 2014, trailing behind the two Grandmasters: Susanto Megaranto (Indonesia, Elo 2557) and his fellow Cao Sang (Elo 2528).

Vietnamese player had an impressive performance at the tournament with eight wins and three draws.

Earlier, other Vietnamese player, FIDE Master Le Tuan Minh (Elo 2347), 32nd seed at the 11th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysia Open, excellently bagged bronze medal after losing to Chinese rival Zhang Zhong (Elo 2608).


The 11th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysia Open, taking place from 15-21st September at the Cititel Hotel Mid Valley, MidValley City, Kuala Lumpur, was attended by 150 players from 15 countries.


Vietnam team joined the tournament with renowned chess players Dao Thien Hai, Nguyen Duc Hoa, Cao Sang, Nguyen Van Huy and Nguyen Anh Dung. At the end of tournament, three players of Vietnam, Le Tuan Minh, Pham Chuong and Dang Hoang Son qualified for FIDE Master title.
