Being held annually, the Khanh Hoa tennis club open tournament – Me Trang Cup has created hallmark of a movement playground.

The fifth Khanh Hoa tennis club open tournament – Me Trang Cup, taking place from October 17 to 19, saw the competitions of 150 athletes from 16 units and tennis clubs in and outside Khanh Hoa Province. The athletes competed in two events: freestyle and movement.

Reportedly, Khanh Hoa used to hold tennis championship at provincial level; however, the championship could not been maintained because of the lack of funding for organization. In 2009, Me Trang Coffee Joint Stock Company decided to sponsor the tournament and has made it a prestigious one, attracting the attention of many tennis clubs in and outside the province. The number of participants has increased year by year. Especially, the tournament this year saw an over-twofold increase in number of athletes compared to 2013. At each event, the athletes were also divided into different levels based on the athletes’ cumulative scores on the rankings of the provincial Tennis Federations. Therefore, there was not much difference in professional quality among athletes. This also helped to increase the attractiveness of the matches.

“Last year, the quality of the athletes was good. In the 2014 tournament, the athletes’ good quality together with the large number of participants helped us to have more driving force. I hope that the tournament will be maintained in order to continue creating opportunity for the tennis athletes in the province to exchange and learn experience as well as promote the development of this sport movement,” said Phuong Uyen, player of Lac Hong club which won the championship at Khanh Hoa tennis club open tournament – Me Trang Cup 2014.

Although the tournament took place in only three days, its attraction shown through the large number of athletes and 140 ebullient matches met the demand of tennis lovers in Khanh Hoa Province.

“This is our annual sports socialization activity, aiming to create an opportunity for tennis lovers, tennis clubs in and outside the province to exchange and raise the professional quality. In the future, we will try to expand the tournament’s scale, invite strong tennis clubs in the country to take part in the tournament,” said Luong The Hung, chairman of board of directors, CEO of Me Trang Coffee Joint Stock Company.
