Khanh Hoa badminton clubs open tournament: contributing to promote badminton movement

The 14th Khanh Hoa badminton clubs open tournament created an ebullient competition atmosphere and contributed to promote the badminton movement in Khanh Hoa Province.

The 14th Khanh Hoa badminton clubs open tournament created an ebullient competition atmosphere and contributed to promote the badminton movement in Khanh Hoa Province.


The 2014 tournament taking place from October 24 to 26 at the provincial Sports Competition House drew the attendance of over 250 athletes from 21 clubs in and outside the province. The athletes were divided into age groups from 30 to 51 and competed in five events: men’s and women’s single; men’s and women’s doubles; and mixed doubles.

The three-day tournament with more than 90 matches really satisfied the fan of this sport. The athletes showed strong competition in many matches, bringing attractiveness to the audience.

At this year’s tournament, Khanh Hoa badminton showed a strong development when beating most of the rivals to achieve the medals. Specifically, Huy Forza Club won the first place for whole group with three golden medals, four silvers and three bronzes; Hoang Hoa Tham Club placed second with one golden medal and four silvers; Anh Duong Club ranked third with one golden and two bronzes.


In many recent years, more and more people have practiced sports to join the sports tournaments as well as to stay healthy or to improve health. Beside football and tennis, badminton movement has had a quite strong development.


Reportedly, Khanh Hoa now has 35 badminton units and clubs with over 800 practicers, among them are some outstanding ones which have gained good achievements at both provincial and regional tournaments, such as Huy Forza, Anh Duong, Hoang Hoa Tham and Nghe Nhan.


According to Mai Duc Chinh, Chairman of the provincial Badminton Federation, through many times of organization, the provincial badminton clubs open tournament has asserted its prestige and has been highly appreciated by the specialists. The tournament has always received financial support from the sponsors. It has been considered not only as a meeting of badminton lovers but also as an evidence of the development of this sport in the Central – Highlands.
