Vietnamese weightlifter wins gold medal at world championships 2014

Vietnamese weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan won one golden medal, two silvers and broke two junior world records - snatch and overall - at the men's 56kg category at the ongoing 2014 IWF World Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Speaking after the game, Om Yun Chol (in white, middle) said that he was afraid a little bit after Thach Kim Tuan's successful lift at 161kg.


At the snatch event, Tuan succeeded in the lifts of 130kg, 134kg and 135kg, earning him one golden medal.


At the clean-and-jerk event, Tuan lost narrowly to Om Yun Chol from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and got the silver.

Tuan was the first weightlifter of Vietnam to win a golden medal at a world weightlifting championship.
