Football supporters: becoming gradually more professional

The role of supporters has never been appreciated as highly as at V-League 2015. The presence of the associations of supporters at the stadium with many cheering methods bearing the character of each region has helped the players to be more enthusiastic.

The role of supporters has never been appreciated as highly as at V-League 2015. The presence of the associations of supporters at the stadium with many cheering methods bearing the character of each region has helped the players to be more enthusiastic.

Professional organization

One of the changes at V-League 2015 is that the organization board has promoted the development of the football supporter associations by offering the prizes for the outstanding associations of the month and year. Reportedly, the total award for supporter associations is worth VND1 billion. Therefore, this year’s season has seen the competitions not only among the football teams but also among supporter associations, which has made the cheering activities to be more ebullient.

Khanh Hoa Football Fans Association has been established and developed for over ten years. The association has still maintained its activities during the time Khanh Hoa’s football teams were relegated to the first and second division. This was a great spiritual encouragement which has revived Khanh Hoa football.

According to Nguyen Van Quy, head of Khanh Hoa Football Fans Association, the association was spontaneously founded in 2000 with around 50 members. In 2006, the association started to be organized professionally and recruited more members when Khatoco Khanh Hoa was promoted to the professional division.

In 2012, Khanh Hoa Provincial decided to establish Khanh Hoa Football Fans Association with nine commissioners and more than 200 regular members.

“When Khatoco Khanh Hoa was transferred to Hai Phong and the team playing at the first division could not attend V-League 2013, the love for Khanh Hoa football was gradually decreased. However, the really enthusiastic fans still quietly came to cheer the young players when they had matches in Ninh Thuan Province. Therefore, we were very excited when Sanna Khanh Hoa – BVN was promoted to play at V-League 2015,” said Nguyen Van Quy.

Spiritual encouragement

After two years, the atmosphere at 19-8 Nha Trang Stadium has been active again thanks to the cheering of the loyal supporters. Although at present, there are about only 5,000 fans coming to the stadium to watch Sanna Khanh Hoa – BNV, the presence these supporters in blue uniform, cheering excitedly, is a great spiritual encouragement for the team to truly dedicate to the game.

At the match between Sanna Khanh Hoa – BVN and Song Lam Nghe An taking place at the end of last week, the host team avoided its first defeat in home soil when the enthusiastic cheering of the fans helped them to rally and score two goals in the final minutes, ending the match in a draw 2-2.

It can be seen through each match that the supporters are not only the ones who inspire excitement and create spiritual encouragement for the players but also partly help Vietnam’s football to be increasingly more professional.
