Khanh Hoa sports has many things to improve in 2015 because some high-achievement sports have tended to decline.

Khanh Hoa sports has many things to improve in 2015 because some high-achievement sports have tended to decline.

In 2014, Khanh Hoa Province had more than 400,000 people regularly taking part in physical activities such as sports, exercise, exceeding by 34.08% over the target. The number of sports families exceeded 36.7%. The province also held 20 provincial sports tournaments; participated in all national tournaments; hosted 11 national tournaments; opened seven professional training classes.

Football is one of few sports of Khanh Hoa gaining good achievement in 2014.

Judo and disability sports were the two sports of public sports movement which gained some encouraging achievements although they have not been yet included into the provincial Sports Technique Training Center. In 2014, the movement sports had 15 medals of all kinds (one gold, two silvers, 12 bronze), which were gained at the club and national tournaments. One of the two silver medals was won by Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan when she finished second at the Asian Para Games.

At present, Khanh Hoa has three sports federations and 12 associations and clubs of sports such as athletics, tennis, badminton, traditional martial arts and vovinam. These associations and clubs have significantly contributed to build and develop public sports movement in the province.

In last year, Khanh Hoa’s high-achievement sports saw both improvement and decline in achievement. Specifically, in 2014, Khanh Hoa’s athletes joined the seventh National Sports Festival, 68 national sports tournaments and two international tournaments, gaining 221 sets of medals with 67 golds, 60 silvers and 94 bronzes. The number of gold medals increased by 12 ones compared to 2013 although there was a drop in the total number of medals.

In football, all of six young teams of Khanh Hoa won tickets to play at the final rounds of the national tournaments. The most outstanding achievement was the promotion to V-League 2015 of Sanna Khanh Hoa – BVN.

However, Khanh Hoa’s sports delegation did not perform well at the seventh National Sports Festival held in Nam Dinh Province. The delegation only obtained 24 sets of medals, ranking 26th among 65 provinces, cities and industries. Some sports which have been considered as the strength of Khanh Hoa sports like athletics, taekwondo, vovinam and bodybuilder did not meet the target. Reportedly, the decline of these sports was caused by many reasons, especially the lack of facilities, athlete force, etc.

Some recommendations were proposed to province’s leaders at a meeting held recently, such as deploying the scheme of the provincial sports industry for the stage 2015-2025 and making orientation towards 2030; increasing investment to improve facilities; making wage policy for sports collaborators at grass-root establishments.

In 2015, beside maintaining and upholding the last achievements, Khanh Hoa sports has many things to do in order to prepare for the Asian Beach Games held in Nha Trang in 2016.
