Trong Quoc, born in Van Binh Commune, Van Ninh District, was selected at random for joining the young team of Khanh Hoa’s indoor volleyball team in 2001. During three years, Trong Quoc gradually grasped the basic techniques thanks to the dedicated training of the training board and his love of learning. However, at that time, Khanh Hoa’s indoor volleyball declined, which meant that young players like Trong Quoc would not have opportunity to play in a professional playground. Therefore, Trong Quoc was transferred to the beach volleyball team. The new playground evoked his talent, passion as well as created a significant turning-point in his career.

“I started from zero when I was transferred to beach volleyball team. The training program of beach volleyball is more severe than indoor volleyball. Unless I have had genuine passion for volleyball and high determination, I would not have been as successful as I am today,” shared Trong Quoc.

With the innate quality of a volleyball athlete (his high jump measured at 3m20), passion and high determination, Trong Quoc has gradually improved his capability, technique and psychological stability. Trong Quoc has been now considered as the most excellent beach volleyball athlete in Vietnam. From 2010 until now, Sanna Khanh Hoa’s couple athletes with Trong Quoc playing as the key player have seemed to have no rival at most of the national beach volleyball tournaments.

In addition from the achievements gained at the domestic playgrounds, Trong Quoc has also left some hallmarks at international tournaments. For example, Quoc and his team won a bronze medal at SEA Game 25 (2009) and fifth place at Asian beach volleyball tournament held in Thailand (2013).

“Trong Quoc is an athlete who has special talent and quality. Whoever paired with Quoc has gained championship. He can be considered as a “fiend” with beach volleyball in Vietnam and also a good example for young beach volleyball athletes in Khanh Hoa to follow,” said Tran Quang Thuong, director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Technique Training Center.
