Rise of sports bicycle movement in Nha Trang

In recent years, the sports bicycle movement has developed rather strongly in Nha Trang City. Everyday, from around 4am to 6am and 3pm to 5pm, many people often riding sports bicycles along Tran Phu Street and Pham Van Dong Street.

 

 


Tan Dung (Vinh Hai Ward), who often rides along Pham Van Dong Street for about 30 minutes to one hour everyday, said that riding has helped him not only to improve his health but also to have chance to meet and exchange with other people who share same passion for this sport.


Le Thanh Nhan, member of Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Bicycle Association said that some people start riding sports bicycles with the aim of improve their health. After a time of practicing, they have become to love this sport.


Basing on the need and financial condition, a practicer can buy a sports bicycle ranging in price from several VND million up to hundreds of VND million. According to Nhan, sports bike parts are quite expensive. Some accessories like pinion, chain, tires, freewheel, etc. cost at least one to several VND million; however, they require to be replaced after some months. When joining a group of sports bicycles riding, practicers also want to upgrade their bicycles to be on an equal footing with the other.


Reportedly, the sports bicycle movement in Khanh Hoa Province now has a stable development and promises to grow more. At present, Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Bicycle Association has about 150 regular members and more than 100 non-members who often join practicing. In Nha Trang City, young and amateur riders Nha Trang Velo Club often practice and send athletes to compete in movement sports tournaments held at provincial level and regional level. In addition, every year, Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Bicycle Association associates with the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, units and organizations to hold movement bicycle racing tournaments attracting hundreds of amateur riders to take part in.
