The 22nd national bodybuilding clubs tournament, taking place at Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Competition House in June 3-8, attracted the participation of over 150 athletes of 17 clubs across the country. The athletes were divided into two categories: A category, including athletes who were master and level-1 ones, and B category, including movement athletes.

According to Huynh Anh, chairman of Bodybuilding and Fitness Council - Vietnam Gymnastics Federation, the 2015 tournament saw a careful preparation and investment in the athlete force, especially athletes of movement category. This made the tournament to become more attractive thanks to the high competitiveness among teams.

Reportedly, the bodybuilding movement has developed quite strongly in many provinces and cities, in which Binh Duong, Lam Dong and Dong Nai have been the most outstanding ones. These provinces have always had athletes selected for the national teams.

Joining this year’s tournament, Khanh Hoa bodybuilding team had 13 male athletes competing in two categories and in most of weight classes. Taking part in the tournament as the host, Khanh Hoa team had well prepared about professional skills and nutrition in order to be competitive for medals.

In three days of competition, Khanh Hoa’s athletes won 11 medals (5 golds, 3 silvers, 3 bronzes); ranked second for whole group. This was a quite good result because Khanh Hoa team had fewer athletes and registered for fewer events compared to some other teams.

Nowadays, the bodybuilding has being developed strongly in Khanh Hoa Province. Specifically, the growing number of practicers and clubs has been seen at the localities in the province. The provincial bodybuilding team has also gained many encouraging achievements. At the 2013 national bodybuilding clubs tournament, Khanh Hoa team placed third for whole group with four gold medals, four silvers and one bronze. In 2014, although the team did not get good results at the seventh National Sports Festival, a team’s member who was Dang Minh Hong won silver medal for the weight class of 55kg at the South East Asian Bodybuilding Championships.

Hopefully, with quite good performances at the 22nd national bodybuilding clubs tournament, Khanh Hoa bodybuilding will develop more strongly in the future.
