One of the sports activities recently taking place in Nha Trang City attracting the attention of both locals and tourists was the Sea Festival beach football tournament 2015. The tournament, carried out at the beach park (opposite 62 Tran Phu Street), was joined by seven teams of business, cities and districts in the province, including Nha Trang, Dien Khanh, Khanh Son, Khanh Vinh, Cam Ranh, Van Ninh and Fishan (Sanna Khanh Hoa).

The teams from mountainous areas Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh, were among four most excellent teams to play finals games. Specifically, Khanh Son played against Nha Trang in the semi-final match while Khanh Vinh was the rival of Van Ninh in the final one.
It was worth mentioning that in the past, the teams from the mountainous areas like Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh have been considered as the weakest teams at the provincial beach football tournaments. Therefore, it caused surprise when the two teams from the mountainous area overcome four strong teams (Nha Trang, Fishan, Dien Khanh, Cam Ranh) to place in the top four. That brought a new attraction to this year’s tournament as well as satisfaction to the audience. “Compared to the previous tournaments, the 2015 one had a good quality; the matches were attractive because there were not much difference in the professional quality among teams,” said Nguyen Thanh Binh, a resident in Nha Trang.
Finally, Khanh Son team defended the bronze medal after defeating Nha Trang team with the score of 6-4. In the final match, Khanh Vinh had a nail-biting game against Van Ninh team with four goals scored by each. The two teams had to play extra time and Khanh Vinh scored a deciding goal to win its first championship at the provincial beach football tournament.
The victories of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh at this year’s tournament showed that the beach football movement has strongly developed in all localities in the province, including the mountainous areas.
