Summer swimming classes are hold in order to prevent drowning among teenagers and children. The classes have been funded in whole or in part with the State budget. Since 2013, there have been four swimming classes, from basic to advanced levels, being held every year, attracting more than 400 followers.

In August, after the end of the swimming course, Nha Trang City often associates with the city Culture – Sports Center to organize swimming tournament at the city level to evaluate the course’s quality.
According to Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Director of Nha Trang City Culture- Sports Center, head of the organization board, the summer swimming tournament for teenagers and children has been evaluated as one of the movement activities which have created positive social effect and attracted a lot of attention from the public.
Compared to other movement sports tournaments held in Nha Trang City, the swimming tournament has always been joined by a large number of participants. Many parents also came to cheer their children on.
This year’s tournament drew the participation of over 100 male and female teenagers and children of 16 communes and wards in the city. The players competed in two events: breaststroke and crawl stroke. The young players brought an ebullient atmosphere to the tournament. Finally, the player of Thai Nguyen unit stood first in 37.58 at the male teenagers’ 50m crawl stroke; swimmer of Ngoc Hiep unit won the gold medal after finishing in 55.49 at female children’s 50m breaststroke.
According to a referee of the tournament, the players’ quality at this year’s tournament was improved a lot compared to the previous years. There were no players who made wrong technique or gave up halfway. That showed the good quality of the summer swimming classes.
Nha Trang City swimming tournament is really a useful playground for the teenagers and children in the city. “Through these tournaments, the children can have opportunity to make friends and improve the swimming skills. This helps the parents to feel more secure to let their children to join extracurricular activities,” said a parent.
