Khanh Hoa boxing clubs championships, which has restarted in 2013 after a gap of a few years, has showed that the boxing movement has been well maintained in the province.

Khanh Hoa boxing clubs championships 2015 took place at the provincial Sports Competing Center (33 Phan Chu Trinh Street, Nha Trang City) from July 31 to August 2. 36 male boxers and 4 female ones from 10 boxing clubs in the province participated in the tournament. The fighters were divided into three groups of age: 15-16, 17-18, 19-30, competing in eight weight classes.

Ten final matches took place on August 2 with the enthusiastic cheer from the audience. Finally, at the men’s event of 50-60 kg class, boxer Tran Van Thanh (Nha Trang) won over Nguyen Trang Hoang (Pham Minh Sang Club) to grab a golden; fighter Vo Minh Phuong (Nha Trang) gained a golden medal at the men’s event of 64-69 kg class; the golden medal of the 52-56 kg class came to Ly Hong Tai (Nha Trang).

“I am very happy with my achievement at this year’s tournament. I hope that the organization board will keep organizing the tournament so that the boxing lovers in the province can have opportunity to exchange and improve skills,” said boxer Tai.

The organization board gave ten sets of medals to excellent athletes. Nha Trang unit got first place for the whole group with four goldens; Ninh Hoa unit placed second with three goldens and one silver; Thai Binh Duong Club ranked third with one golden and three silvers.

According to Dang Quoc Van, Deputy Head of Bureau of Professional Competence (Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism), deputy head of organization board, although the number of participants did not increase, the quality of the boxers reflected in the matches showed a good maintenance of this sport in the province.

Reportedly, from 2004 and backwards, the boxing movement in Khanh Hoa used to develop quite strongly. Khanh Hoa’s boxers used to gained good achievements at the national boxing tournaments. However, Khanh Hoa boxing was confronted with the financial difficulties and lack of young athletes. Until 2013, as a result of the efforts made by the provincial Boxing Association, the boxing movement in the province has been rebuilt.

The provincial boxing championships has been improved in professional quality through each year. Especially, the 2015 tournament had its own attraction thanks to the participant of female boxers.
