Vietnamese team gets two bronzes at 14th World Xiangqi Championship

The 14th World Xiangqi Championship was held by the World Xiangqi Federation and the German Xiangqi Association at the University of Applied Languages (Munich, Germany) from August 22 to 26.

 

The 14th World Xiangqi Championship was held by the World Xiangqi Federation and the German Xiangqi Association at the University of Applied Languages (Munich, Germany) from August 22 to 26.

This year’s championship was attended by the athletes from 20 countries and territories across the world, including Vietnam, China, USA, England, Russia, Singapore, Philippines, Netherlands, East Malaysia, West Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Japan, Italy, Indonesia, German, France, Finland and Canada.
 
The athletes competed in five events: men’s team, men’s individual, women’s individual, Non-Chinese/ Non-Vietnamese Individual (Men) and Non-Chinese/ Non-Vietnamese Individual (Women).
 
Vietnamese team took part in the championship with two male athletes (Trenh A Sang, Lai Ly Huynh) and one female ones (Ho Thi Thanh Hong), competing at the events of individual and team.
Finally, Thanh Hong gained a bronze at the women’s individual. Huynh and Sang earned another bronze for Vietnamese team at the men’s team.
