The national judo championship 2015, taking place in September 5-12 in Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Competition House with the participation of many excellent judo athletes in Vietnam, is a good opportunity for Khanh Hoa’s judo athletes to exchange and learn experience.

The 2015 championship is jointly held by the General Department of Sports, Vietnam Judo Federation and Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The tournament attracts more than 190 athletes of 22 provinces, cities and industries across the country.

According to the professionals, this is a high quality tournament which draws the attendance of many units and localities which have strong judo movement, such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Thap and the Military. This is also a chance for Vietnam Judo Federation to check and evaluate the quality of the national athletes.

Taking part in this year tournament, Khanh Hoa judo team has over ten male and female athletes who are almost young ones. Therefore, Khanh Hoa team only set the target of exchanging and learning experience. The most outstanding athlete in Khanh Hoa team is Vo Minh Tri, competing in the above 100kg weight class. Tri used to be one of the key members of Vietnam national judo team at the international tournaments held in Thailand and Japan. Tri earned four bronzes to the national team at the international tournaments, goldens (2012, 2013) and bronze (2014) to Khanh Hoa team in the domestic ones.

According to Ly Dai Nghia, Secretary General of Vietnam Judo Federation, at the 2015 tournament, Khanh Hoa team is not competitive with the others because most of the team’s athletes are relatively young and inexperienced and there have been not many investments in this sport. However, if it is well invested in next three or four years, Khanh Hoa judo team will become a strong rival at the domestic tournaments.
