Among movement sports tournaments held in Khanh Hoa Province, the annual Nha Trang City farmer’s sports festival has had its own attractiveness partly thanks to games characterizing the farming work.

The 2015 festival has recently been carried out at Nha Trang City Sports Training and Competing Center. More than 300 players from 16 communes and wards took part in the festival with three games: tug of war, rod pushing and ten events of relay where players run while carrying heavy load. The vigorous competitions together with the enthusiastic cheer of the audience created an ebullient atmosphere for the festival.

According to Nguyen Chanh Thuc, Chairman of Nha Trang City Farmer’s Association, Deputy Head of organization board, this year’s festival was more ebullient and interesting than the previous years because all teams prepared quite well and took part in all games. The number of participating teams joining rod pushing increased three times compared to the past festivals. In the relay, the farmers showed their strength when they run while carrying heavy bags of rice on their shoulders.

At the end of the festival, the organization board gave ten sets of medals to excellent individuals and collectives. Phuoc Dong Commune won first prize for whole group. The second place and third place came to Vinh Ngoc Commune and Vinh Thai Commune, respectively.

The festival aimed to create an opportunity for the farmers in the localities to exchange experience as well as promote the development of the sports movement in the communes and wards. “This is really useful playground for the farmers. I hope that in the future, the festival will have more games associated with the farming work, which promises to increase the attractiveness of the festival,” said Nguyen Van Toan, Chairnam of Vinh Thanh Commune Farmers’ Association.
