At the 2015 Asian Canoe Sprint & Dragon Boat Championships & Asian Olympic Qualification for RIO 2016, held at Palembang, Indonesia in November 4-8, Vietnam team ranked fifth with one gold medal.

The championships was participated by 21 countries, including Cambodia, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, South Korea, Macao, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
This tournament is also the qualification tournament of Olympic Games Rio 2016. At the championships, the athletes competed for nine medal sets (men) and seven medal sets (women).
The only medal of Vietnam team came from Truong Thi Phuong who competed at women’s C1 500m which is a non-Olympic event.
