At the national table-tennis strong teams tournament held in Nha Trang last October, Doan Kien Quoc, Khanh Hoa’s senior athlete, gained a gold medal at men’s singles. Kien Quoc’s personal achievement at the tournament not only helped him to assert his position but also helped Khanh Hoa’s table-tennis to keep carrying out the plan which is gaining achievements and creating opportunities for young athletes to join the quality tournaments.

Afterwards, Khanh Hoa’s team got whole-team first prize at the national table-tennis strong clubs tournament taking place in Thanh Hoa in November, 2015. This tournament was joined by over 200 male and female athletes of 18 strong units and clubs of the provinces, cities and industries across the country, in which there were many renowned athletes such as Kien Quoc and Trong Nghia (Khanh Hoa), Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh (Ninh Thuan) and Doan Tran Phu (Ho Chi Minh Police). Khanh Hoa team comprised six athletes, competing in men’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles. Finishing the tournament, Khanh Hoa team got three gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.

One of the outstanding athletes of Khanh Hoa team at this tournament was Doan Trong Nghia, Kien Quoc’s younger brother. Trong Nghia and Kien Quoc used to win first prizes at men’s doubles at the national tournaments. At the 2015 national table-tennis strong clubs tournament, Trong Nghia showed a good performance when scooping one gold medal at men’s doubles and one gold at men’s singles.

According to Nguyen Minh Dat, Deputy Director being in charge of specialty of the provincial Sports Technique Training Center, the achievements of the senior athletes have not only contributed to improve the position of Khanh Hoa’s table-tennis in the domestic playground but also been driving force for the young players to practice harder.
