For over the last ten years until now, Khanh Hoa athletics has not had any athletes who had outstanding performances in the international playgrounds. The best achievements of Khanh Hoa’s athletics athletes have been only medals at national tournaments. This shows that Khanh Hoa athletics has had certain difficulties in looking for the next generations after Pham Dinh Khanh Doan, who used to shine at SEA Games 21 and 22.
At the Tien Phong Newspaper National Cross-country and Marathon Tournament 2016, although having many professional difficulties and pressure for achievement, Khanh Hoa’s athletics team in general and cross-country team in particular, under the instruction of coaches Hoang Thi Huyen Nga, Pham Dinh Khanh Doan, Nguyen Dang Duc Bao and Pham Ngoc Hoang, etc., asserted its position once again as a strong units of Vietnam athletics. The whole-group first prize was an award for the tireless efforts of the members.
According to Coach Hoang Thi Huyen Nga, in the present circumstance, it was not easy to gain this such achievement. At this year’s tournament, Khanh Hoa’s team with 26 athletes had to compete with nearly 300 ones of 32 units in all events. Therefore, if the team did not have good solidarity, coordination as well as appropriate strategy, they would not get such encouraging result.
At the tournament, players of Khanh Hoa’s athletics team strongly supported each other to finish the races as fast as possible. Therefore, although not winning as many medals as other teams (one silver in women’s marathon, one silver in men’s young event), Khanh Hoa’s players placed first in women’s main team event, ranked second in men’s main team event and men’s young team event, resulting in whole-group first prize.
Reportedly, Khanh Hoa’s athletics team won more than 20 whole-team first prizes in 57 times Tien Phong Newspaper National Cross-country and Marathon Tournament organized. The lately win was the twelve consecutive victories of the coastal provincial team.
