First Hung Vuong Cup of Sanest Khanh Hoa

With the smashing 3-0 victory over Border team, the male volleyball team Sanest Khanh Hoa brought the first Hung Vuong Cup to the beach city after eight years of waiting.

 

 

 

In the first round of the National Volleyball Championship, Sanest Khanh Hoa proved that they were the promising candidate for the championship title of Hung Vuong Cup 2016. The team from the coastal province ended their competitions in the round with three wins and only one loss, clinching the first place in group A. After that, Sanest Khanh Hoa had a sizzling 3-2 victory against Trang Anh Ninh Binh in the semi-final of Hung Vuong Cup.

 

Border team, the rival of Sanest Khanh Hoa in the final match also asserted their strength with a series of wins in the first round and an easy victory over The Cong 15th Corps in the second semi-final match of Hung Vuong Cup. Therefore, the clash between Sanest Khanh Hoa and Border team was considered as a competition of the trophy “hunters”. The both teams had the attackers (Sanest Khanh Hoa’s Ngo Van Kieu and Tu Thanh Thuan, Border team’s Huu Ha) who have been evaluated as the most excellent ones of Vietnam’s male volleyball at present. The beach city’s team entered the final match with a high determination and good play and finally bagged a victory, earning them the highest achievement in this year’s Hung Vuong Cup.

 

Since Sanest Khanh Hoa was established, the team has won the highest prizes at some quality tournaments; nevertheless, they had never succeeded at Hung Vuong Cup. For example, in the 2008 season, the first year Sanest Khanh Hoa played at a professional tournament, they topped the National Volleyball Championship. However, Hung Vuong Cup 2008 was organized due to some reasons. Two years later, Sanest Khanh Hoa won Grand Prix – Alaska Cup and qualified for the final of Hung Vuong Cup 2011. However, they could not bring home the trophy. Therefore, it can be said that the championship at Hung Vuong Cup 2016 is a precious reward for the tireless efforts of the players of Sanest Khanh Hoa.
