The national volleyball championship 2016 is participated by eleven male teams and ten female teams from strong clubs across the country. In the men’s event, five teams of A group (runner-up Sanest Khanh Hoa, The Cong 15th Corps, 4th Corps – Becamex, Long An, Ben Tre) compete in Yen Bai; B group including six teams (present champion Maseco Ho Chi Minh City, Trang An Ninh Binh, Xo So Kien Thiet Vinh Long, Ha Tinh, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Border team) plays in Hai Duong. Among these teams, Maseco Ho Chi Minh City and Sanest Khanh Hoa are the two brightest candidates for the championship title.
However, in B group, Maseco Ho Chi Minh City had an unfavorable beginning when they lost to Trang An Ninh Binh 3-2 in the first clash. Bien Phong team (with the return of outside hitter Huu Ha), Ha Tinh and Ho Chi Minh City Police (two newly-promoted teams with unknown players) are not easy rivals.
In A group, Sanest Khanh Hoa has been evaluated to have a strongest attacking line-up with Ngo Van Kieu and Tu Thanh Thuan at the present time. Besides, Sanest Khanh Hoa also has in their team some outstanding athletes, such as Thien Men, Van Phong and Trung Truc. Like the present champion Maseco Ho Chi Minh City, the team of the coastal province also did not performed well in they first game where they were defeated by The Cong 15th Corps. However, in the second match, Sanest Khanh Hoa had a sizzling 3-0 win over 4th Corps – Becamex.
According to Trieu Tu Thien, Head Coach of Sanest Khanh Hoa, it is difficult to guess the result of the first round because the participating teams have well invested in the athletes force. Apart from quality players, Sanest Khanh Hoa has still had some weak points like the coordination among players. The team has been playing with the highest determination, aiming for the best achievement in Hung Vuong Cup.
