Gaining two consecutive championships in the 2014 and 2015 season, the host Sanna Khanh Hoa has been evaluated by the professionals as the brightest candidate for the 2016 title. In the first clash of the championship, beside coaches Thai Quang Lai and Dong Trieu, Sanna Khanh Hoa was instructed by assistant coach Ngo Van Kieu who is the captain and key athlete of Sanest Khanh Hoa. Reportedly, Ngo Van Kieu was appointed to work as a coach at Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Technique Training Center in June, 2015. However, until now, Kieu has still played for Sanest Khanh Hoa and contributed significantly to the team’s achievements (runner-up at national championship 2015, champion at Hung Vuong Cup 2016).
Taking part in this year’s championship, Sanna Khanh Hoa does not have a good formation compared to the 2014 season. Some outstanding athletes are Nguyen Quoc Doan and Duong Van Tien (outside hitter), Phuoc Loi (right win spiker), and Hieu Hau (libero).
Quang Ngai, rival of Sanna Khanh Hoa in the first game, has joined the nation-level tournament for the first time. Most of athletes of Quang Ngai young team are the amateur ones. Finally, the present champion Sanna Khanh Hoa earned a three-set victory over Quang Ngai
Sanna Khanh Hoa will play against Ho Chi Minh City’s team in their second match. With the achievements of Maseco Ho Chi Minh City (champion at national championship 2015) and Maseco young team (runner-up at national tournament for young volleyball clubs) in 2015, Ho Chi Minh City young team is considered as a strong rival of the host Sanna Khanh Hoa in Group B. Therefore, the clash is expected to be an attractive competition.
