Khanh Hoa’s volleyball had good achievements in the first tour of the National Beach Volleyball Tournament with the two highest prizes belonging to female and male team of Sanna Khanh Hoa.
The first tour was jointly organized by Vietnam Volleyball Federation, Tam Ky City People’s Committee and Vietcombank, taking place in June 16-19 at Tam Ky City, Quang Nam Province. The tournament was joined by 29 male and female teams of nine provinces, cities and units, including Sanna Khanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, fourth Corps, and so on. This year’s tournament had more participants than the years of 2014 and 2015. Most of participating teams had prepared quite well, bringing the audience attractive competitions.

Sanna Khanh Hoa joined the tournament with the most number of teams compared to other ones (five male teams and three female teams). The athletes of Sanna Khanh Hoa played unsuccessfully at the 2015 National Beach Volleyball Championships in Can Tho where they were eliminated in the first round. Meanwhile, some strong volleyball teams like Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong and the fourth Corps have recently had good preparations for their athletes. Therefore, although having many senior athletes who used to win championships at the domestic tournaments, it was difficult to predict the result of Sanna Khanh Hoa’s teams at this year’s tournament.
After four days of competitions, there were three teams of Sanna Khanh Hoa qualifying for the final games (two male teams and one female team). The men’s final was the competition of the two pairs of Sanna Khanh Hoa (Quoc – Vinh against Khanh - Phuc); in women’s final, Thanh Loan – Tran Thi Trong of Sanna Khanh Hoa played with the pair of Ho Chi Minh City. Finally, Quoc and Vinh won the championship after defeating their fellow countrymen while Loan and Trong overcame the rival to gain the highest prize. Additionally, Vinh and Loan were also awarded the title of most excellent male and female athlete.
According to Nguyen Cao Dong, Head coach of Sanna Khanh Hoa, the athletes of Sanna Khanh Hoa deserved the victories after having made a lot of preparations for the tournament. This achievement is a driving force for the teams of Sanna Khanh Hoa to join the following tournaments, especially the National Beach Volleyball Championships.
