Ebullient atmosphere of Khanh Hoa's amateur open bike race

Khanh Hoa's amateur open bike race held at Salanganes Nest Park (Pham Van Dong Street) on August 28 created an ebullient atmosphere which excited both the racers and audience.

The tournament was organized by Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Bicycle Association. This year’s tournament was attended by more than 100 male and female racers of 27 units and cycling clubs in the provinces and cities across the country. Many of them often take part in the open tournament of Khanh Hoa provincial Sport Bicycle Association, including Nha Trang Velo Cycling Club, Friends – NT Cycling Club, cycling clubs from Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan, Da Nang, Lam Dong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Can Tho, and so on. According to Vo Lang, Chairman of the Sports Bicycle Association of Khanh Hoa, although the number of cyclists at the 2016 race was not as many as the 2014 one, the quality of the racers as well as preparation for the tournament was better. 
 
The racers competed in three events: women’s event (12.5 km), men above 46 years old (26.5 km), men from 25 to 45 years old (52 km). In women’s event, the cyclists completed the race with the average speed of 34.168 km/h. Finally, the female players of the provincial Sports Bicycle Association finished first and second; rider of Cam Ranh Velo Club came third.
 
The competition of male racers above 46 might be the most exciting one. There was a strong competition among the racers. The cyclists had no difficult to finish the race thanks to the regular participation in the bike race. The riders had the average speed of 36.26 km/h. After 43 minutes and 51 seconds, Tran Cong Thinh (Ba Ria – Vung Tau Cycling Club) crossed the finish line, ranking first; Pham Hong Phi (Bao Viet Lam Dong Cycling Club) ranked second; Tran Dac Hung (Ban Me Xanh Dak Lak Cycling Club) placed third.
 
Another rider of Khanh Hoa’s Sport Bicycle Association also had quite good result in the event of men from 25 to 45 years old with second place. Finishing first and third in this event were the racers of Thanh Hoa Velo and Bao Viet Lam Dong Cycling Club.
 
According to Le Thi Sen, Executive Committee Member of Vietnam Federation of Sports Bicycle – Motorcycle, Khanh Hoa’s amateur open bike race has been quite popular in the sports bicycle movement of Vietnam. Many cycling groups from the three regions have participated in the open cycle racing of Khanh Hoa. This will be a driving force to promote the sports bike movement in Khanh Hoa Province.
 
Reportedly, Khanh Hoa now has more than ten cycling clubs with 109 members. Additionally, there are about 500 people joining the cycling movement.
