Joining the tournament are eight male teams and five female teams. This is the first time two young teams, Sanna Khanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City Police, taking part in Sanatech Ben Tre Cup. There is also a change in the men’s event of the 2016 tournament because the number of teams registering for this year’s tournament increases by two teams compared to last year. Accordingly, the male teams are divided into two groups; whereas the female teams still compete in a round robin format.
In the men’s event, the young team from the coastal province Sanna Khanh Hoa, won the championship at the National Volleyball Championship for Young Teams 2016 held in Nha Trang in June. This victory has been the third consecutive championship of Sanna Khanh Hoa in a national-level tournament for young teams. This has also been considered as a rare achievement of a young team. Therefore, the participation of Sanna Khanh Hoa at the 2016 Sanatech Ben Tre Cup is expected to create surprising results. The tournament is also a good opportunity for Sanna Khanh Hoa to learn experience from the senior teams.
In the meantime, the athletes of Sanest Khanh Hoa have so far had a successful season in 2016. The team of Coach Trieu Tu Thien scooped Hung Vuong Cup and Dam PV Cup. These are the first cups of Sanest Khanh Hoa at the most quality tournaments during nine years playing in the professional playground. Although Sanatech Ben Tre Cup is not a main tournament and is considered as a preparation for Sanna Khanh Hoa before the second tour of the national volleyball tournament, the third cup in 2016 season is still the target of Trieu Tu Thien and his athletes in order to meet the expectations of fans.
