The first championship is slated to take place in January 2017 in replace of the 2016 AFF Futsal Championship which was postponed due to the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of the host Thailand.
The second championship, AFF Futsal Championship 2017, will be organized in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in November 2017. This tournament is also the qualifying round for the AFC Futsal Championship 2018.
