Reportedly, with the target to promote the campaign “All people do physical exercise following the example of Uncle Ho”, Khanh Hoa’s sports department will include some public sports in this year’s sports festival. The province will try to have around 97% of commune-level units and 100% of district-level ones organizing sports festival. Through these sports festivals, the province’s sports department will select outstanding players for the provincial sports teams; upgrade the sports facilities and equipment; improve the management and organizational capacity of the officials, coaches, and referees at all levels.
The sports activities within the framework of sports festivals of Khanh Hoa Province are slated to take place at all levels from March to December. The sports festivals are also an opportunity for the province to evaluate comprehensively the sports movement over the province; preserve and uphold the typical sports of country and localities; improve physical health of the inhabitants.
According to Nguyen Hai Son, Head of Sports Management Bureau of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the preparations for the sports festivals have been almost completed. As planed, Nha Trang City, Cam Lam District and Khanh Son District are the localities holding sports competitions in March. A new feature of this year’s sports festivals is that the less popular sports will be replaced by the more popular ones. For example, morning exercise will be held instead of shuttle cock kicking and chess. Additionally, some typical sports which have been considered as the strength of Khanh Hoa (beach football and volleyball) will coincide with the activities of Sea Festival 2017 to serve locals and tourists. Crossbow shooting and rod pushing will keep being held in order to preserve and uphold the traditional cultural values of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh District.
With careful preparation of the localities throughout the province, hopefully, the 2017 sports festival at all levels of Khanh Hoa will be successfully organized and partly promote the public sports movement in the province.
