The unicorn-lion-dragon dance performances of the city’s traditional martial arts clubs will be the prelude to the opening ceremony of the 2017 Sea Festival. Around 150 traditional martial arts practitioners of 13 traditional martial arts clubs will join this activity, which is planned to take place on Tran Phu Street (from Yen Phi Park to 2-4 Square) on June 1.
This year, a sea swimming race will be incorporated into the sea festival for the first time. The race aims to create a useful playground for the locals; promote the practice of sports, physical exercise and drowning prevention among the public. The race is expected to attract 50 to 70 participants from the localities over Khanh Hoa. A basket boat race may be held to introduce a typical cultural feature of the coastal area to tourists. A fishing competition and sea creatures releasing activity at “Bấy” Lagoon (Vinh Nguyen Ward) on June 11 also promise to bring locals and tourists interesting experiences.
In addition to the sports activities of Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports and event companies will organize some sea sports competitions, such as Khanh Hoa’s beach volleyball tournament and beach football tournament. Human Chinese chess competition at this year’s sea festival is expected to be more attractive thanks to the participations of many teams from other provinces beside Khanh Hoa.
Hopefully, with some new changes and new activities being included in the 2017 Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Sea Festival, the locals and tourists will have wonderful and memorable experiences throughout the festival.
