The tournament attracted more than 200 players from 12 units and table-tennis clubs throughout the province. This year’s tournament, like the previous ones, included 17 sets of medals and three events: team, singles and doubles. The participations competed in age groups of under 15 and above 40 in men’s and women’s category.

As reported by Nguyen Minh Dat, Director of Khanh Hoa Sports Service Center, the table-tennis club tournament is a large-scale tournament in Khanh Hoa. Therefore, most of the participating teams had focused on improving the quality of their players to prepare for the tournament. Nha Trang unit has been often superior to other participants in term of number of players and medals. Last year, Nha Trang won overwhelmingly with 17 gold medals in all events, claiming top position on the medal rankings. Khanh Hoa Salanganes, Lac Hong, Huynh De, and Phuoc Tien were other outstanding teams.
Joining the tournament, the players, especially the young ones, over the province had a good opportunity to exchange and learn experience from each other. The tournament often sees the attendance of young players (aged 15 to 18) of Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports Technique Training Center. “Every day, I only practice with the instructors and other players in the provincial team. There are not many opportunity for us to play with the players outside the team. Therefore, this tournament is a useful playground for us to exchange and improve our skills so that we can be more confident in the national tournaments,” said Nguyen Dinh Minh Thu, member of Khanh Hoa U-13 team under the provincial Sports Technique Training Center.
There were around ten young athletes of the provincial team taking part in the province’s table-tennis club tournament 2017. After three days of competition, Nha Trang team topped the medal rankings again with twelve golds, three silvers and four bronzes; Lac Hong Club placed second with one gold, two silvers and one bronze; Phuoc Tien came third with four silvers and one bronze.
It can be said that the table-tennis club tournament is really a useful playground for the table-tennis players over Khanh Hoa. The participants also hoped that the province will organize more tournaments and open tournaments so that the province’s players can compete with the ones from other provinces, thereby further promoting the movement of table-tennis in Khanh Hoa.
