K-League – DBS Cup 2017, which is the first large-scale amateur football tournament held in Nha Trang City, is bringing a new breath of air to the movement football tournaments in Khanh Hoa with the joining of professional players.
The tournament kicked off at Da Quoc football ground (No.75 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Nha Trang) on July 2. There are eight highly-evaluated movement football teams in Khanh Hoa taking part in the tournament, including Quang Huy Nha Trang FC, Thanh Thanh FC, Phuoc Son FC, C-Casa Gym FC, Quynh Ly – Cam Thinh FC, Bien Duong and DBS Khanh Hoa FC.
The tournament includes the first leg (July 2 to August 13) and second leg (September 3 to October 15). After the first leg, the teams can change and replace their players. The champion will be awarded a cash prize of VND30 million; the runner-up receives VND20 million; third-place team is given VND10 million. In addition, there are fair play prize and individual prizes worth VND5 million each.
Each team at the K-League – DBS Cup 2017 can recruit seven players who are playing at the 2017 professional tournaments in Vietnam. In a match, each seven-a-side team is allowed to play with three professional players. Quang Huy Nha Trang FC, a strong movement football team in Khanh Hoa, is joined by Tien Duong and Kim Tuan, goalkeeper and captain of Vietnam’s beach football team respectively, and Thanh Hung, who is playing for Sanna Khanh Hoa futsal team. Phan Khac Chi, one of the key athletes of Sanna Khanh Hoa futsal team, joins Phuoc Son FC.
In the meantime, C-Casa FC recruited many athletes of Sanna Khanh Hoa – Bien Vietnam (Sanna KH-BVN), such as captain Van Vu, half-backs Quoc Chi and Viet Binh, and goalkeeper Ngoc Tu. Sanna Khanh Hoa futsal team’s player Nguyen Dinh Thanh also join this team. Olympic Gym FC had the agreement of the athletes of Sanna KH-BVN, Quang Nam football team, and Becamex Binh Duong.
Meantime, DBS Khánh Hòa FC invited players of former Khatoco Khanh Hoa and defender Trong Binh of Sanna KH-BVN. The team from Cam Ranh City, Quynh Ly- Cam Thinh FC, takes part in the tournament with the participation of Mai Thanh Dat, captain of Sanna Khanh Hoa futsal team.
Thus, K-League – DBS Cup 2017 sees the attendance of nearly 20 athletes who are playing at Vietnam’s professional tournaments, tens of former athletes, and many young players of Khanh Hoa’s football teams.
“We want to organize a movement tournament professionally. We allow the professional players with the aim to bring football closer to everyone and make the tournament more attractive. We have organized quite successfully similar tournaments in other provinces and cities over Vietnam,” said Tran Thai Duy, Director of DBS Youth Soccer Academy (sponsor of tournament), and Head of Organization Committee.
Reportedly, the organizers also invited professional referees to increase the quality of the competitions. Hopefully, with careful preparation and participation of professional athletes, K-League – DBS Cup 2017 will be carried out successfully and push the development of the movement football in Khanh Hoa.
