On July 12, the Navy opened its Physical Exercise and Sports Festival 2017 at the Naval Academy (Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa). Present at the opening ceremony were Rear Admiral Pham Xuan Diep, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Navy; leaders and over 1,000 athletes from the units and organizations under the Navy.

The festival takes place in July 12-21, including nine events such as volleyball, badminton, table-tennis, tennis, practical swimming, and barehanded martial arts.

Reportedly, the festival is held biennially. Through this festival, the most outstanding athletes will be selected to take part in the National Whole Army Physical Exercise and Sports 2017.
