Akram Afif scored the opener for Qatar at the 39th minute. Quang Hai equalized for Vietnam at the 69th minute. Almoez Ali helped Qatar to lead again but Quang Hai made another marvellous equalizer for Vietnam only two minutes later. Vietnam and Qatar tied 2-2 after full time.
The extra time ended scoreless which caused the game to be decided by penalty kicks.
