Khanh Hoa's high achievement sports: proposals for development

On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2018, Khanh Hoa's sports coaches and athletes put forward some ideas and proposals for development of Khanh Hoa' sports in the future.

On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2018, Khanh Hoa’s sports coaches and athletes put forward some ideas and proposals for development of Khanh Hoa’ sports in the future. Some outstanding ones among these ideas and proposals are offering special policy for the coaches and athletes who gain good achievements at the domestic and international tournaments in order to attract talents; and offering convenient condition for hiring foreign coaches and oversea training.

As said by Vo Ngoc Hung, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, thanks to the supports from the province’s authorities, organizations and businesses together with the efforts of the coaches and athletes, last year, the province’s sports sector fulfilled most of last year’s main targets and surpassed expectations.

In 2017, the sports teams of Khanh Hoa took part in 69 nationals; won 79 gold medals, 76 silver medals, 90 bronze medals (53 medals more than target). Forty-two athletes of Khanh Hoa were recognized as masters, and 85 athletes were offered the title of national level-1 athletes (25 athletes more than target). The provincial teams of indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, football, futsal, traditional martial art, muay Thai gained championships at both domestic and international tournaments. These are the driving force for the Khanh Hoa’s sports sector to set high expectations at the National Physical Training and Sports 2018 as well as finalize plan for development of Khanh Hoa’s sports in 2020-2030 period.

However, Khanh Hoa’s sports sector, especially high achievement sports is having to deal with many difficulties. For example, there have not been funds for foreign coaches and oversea training courses. The policies and rewards for the outstanding coaches and athletes have still not been attractive enough to retain or attract good coaches and athletes. “I hope that the province’s authorities and departments will soon offer special policies to the coaches and athletes gaining good results at the national and international tournaments so that they can play with the best spiritual condition,” said Tran Quang Thuong, Director of Khanh Hoa’s Sports Technique Center.

These ideas and proposals are not new but quite imperative in the circumstance that some high achievements sports of Khanh Hoa in recent years have been losing their strength and position at the nationals. The financial difficulty has also caused some athletes to do other business besides sports or transfer to teams of other localities.

In the recent meeting with the outstanding coaches and athletes, Nguyen Duy Bac, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, directed the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports to collect the ideas and proposals and put forward to the provincial People’s Council.
